Note­wor­thy — While many of our in­ter­ac­tions with mi­crobes are es­sen­tial for our health, mi­crobes are also well-known causes of dis­eases, such as the bubonic plague, that have dec­i­mated pop­u­la­tions. We are, there­fore, for­tu­nate to count on an­timi­cro­bial drugs to elim­i­nate harm­ful pathogens.
