The Deep Bios­phere – A Video

It may be be­cause it car­ries on so very slowly or be­cause it is so deeply buried. Who knows, but I find the abun­dant mi­cro­bial life of the deep bios­phere thor­oughly mes­mer­iz­ing. That's why I was thrilled by a video on the sub­ject that Memo Berk­men – long-time friend and STC fan  – brought to my at­ten­tion. It's only nat­ural that I now share it with you. Its play­ful na­ture and rapid pace make it a fun watch. Clearly aimed at teach­ing a gen­er­a­tion that's grown up with smart­phones and tablets in hand, it still man­aged to cap­ture this boomer's at­ten­tion. Don't let its car­toon na­ture fool you; this is a nice piece of sci­ence com­munication that teach­ers can put to good use. (I'll for­give a cou­ple of fac­tual mis­takes... see if you can spot them.) Over­all great ed­u­ca­tional fun! The say­ing goes that a picture's worth a thou­sand words. How many is a video worth? You be the judge. I'll stop writ­ing and let you watch.
