Is there some­thing about a bac­te­r­ial mem­brane that makes it un­sta­ble when bent as sharply as a vesi­cle (or NC) re­quires? The NC doesn't need for it to re­main whole for long.
As an aside, how does the virion con­struct its out­er­most mem­brane? De novo, or by pinch­ing off a bit of the host? If the for­mer, could this be the fa­bled mem­bra­nosyn­the­sis of song and Tal­mu­dic query?
