Two archaea walk into a bar and the bartender says, "If you guys are going to start in with the jokes again, Woese is me."
A few months ago, we fished for a little help from our readers in our post about the association between two archaea, Ignococcus hospitalis and Nanoarchaeon equitans. This comes to us from Fred Rosenberg, a professor of microbiology at California Lutheran University, who took the bait.
It's not too late to send us your version.

Well, they aren't walking, I would venture. They swim their way in with sweet, sweet (glycosylated) flagella. But since they are related to Type IV pili instead of TTSSs, perhaps we could say that they "twitch" their way into a bar?
I could work in an "ether" joke about their membranes, but that would be pretty extreme of me.

Maybe we should stop bugging people with these jokes? No use flagellating ourselves about it.
