I obtained my bachelor's degree at Lipscomb University in Nashville, Tennessee and my doctorate at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville in the lab of Professor Todd Reynolds. I conducted postdoctoral work at Harvard Medical School with Professor Jon Clardy. Currently, I am a planetary protection and materials engineer at NASA Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, Alabama.
